torsion bar removal

I am trying to lower the rear of my car at the minute, I am having real bother getting the torsion bars out as they have obviously never been taken out for 18 years.

Has anybody any methods for taking them out easily if possible??

Thanks
Jamie

We removed the rear beam on my car entirely. That was the right thing to do, though it ended up costing in excess of £500 by the time we replaced the brake and fuel lines (fuel through need, brake through "while we're in there") and the mounts which had broken up.

You don't have to, but it means you can strip it all and paint it when it's off, plus replace the bits that you can only get to by doing that.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]I replaced the bushes with Weltmeister ones while it was off too, but if I had my time again I'd use bearings from Elephant Racing.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

i wouldnt need to go that severe on replacement as the car will only ever be on the road.

I think the weiltmeister bushes will be good enough for me ;)

ok not them then lol maybe proflex used them in all my previous cars and they are hard to beat
