torx tube removal

I have removed the gearbox from a 944 that I have and Iam trying to remove the torx tube.
I have removed all brackets that hold it along with the 17 mm bolts on the engine end and It is now free except it appears to still be connected on the spline s into the clutch.
Have I missed something that is still connecting here as I need to also remove the clutch aswell.

Hi Rob,Ive dropped the trailing arms but its almost as though there is a connection on the shaft itself

is it manual or auto

had an auto once that wouldn't come until I have removed bell housing.

cross member needs to be removed for torx tube removal but not if placing torx tube back to replace clutch

What is happening here is the drive shaft splines are binding on the clutch disc. You don't say if car is in regular use or if its been parked for a considerable time. Sounds like your has sat and the clutch disc is corroded onto the drive shaft.

The drive shaft should move freely out of the disc. Any misalignment (i.e. letting the shaft "hang" on the transmission end) will make the binding worse. I would thread the bell housing bolts back in as well as starting the torque tube to the bell housing bolts a few turns so that that end is properly aligned and then try to draw the drive shaft out of the clutch from the transmission end (protect the shaft with rubber or an old leather belt ahead of the splines for the trans coupler, get your locking pliers clamped on and tap it with a hammer to get the shaft moving). Once the shaft moves a little you can probably remove the tube with the shaft as a unit.

There should be specs in the workshop manual for resetting the drive shaft in the tube (use a block of wood on the end of the shaft and tap with a hammer to move it back into the torque tube) for reassembly so the transmission coupler will bolt right up.

Thank you for everybodys help,I have realigned the torx tube and with a lot of grunting managed to free it from the spline end
