Touring Queries

Hi Everyone,

I have decided that my holiday this year will consist of a touring drive from the UK down to Monte Carlo...taking in some alpine roads in Switzerland and Italy - then on a ferry to both Corsica and then to North Africa (to Casablanca) before returning to the UK.

Obviously this epic journey will test my 1988 924s... about to have a new clutch and a full service before I set off in August. My questions to all of you are........

1) Any advice regarding long distance european touring in a 924s?
2) What spares should I consider carrying?? and
3) can anybody recommend suitcases/luggage that will fit snugly into the boot allowing the retractable cover to be pulled across and making as much use of the boot area as possible.

Many thanks for any tips and advice you can give.

Cheers
Mark

if you really need luggage just throw in holdalls. but i would think with an 88 924 just 4 pairs of overalls and a big tool kit.Brings back memories as i did part of the trip in 1980 in a new 924s great. make sure you take in the route napoleon down thru grasse from say lyon inland.strongly suggest you take a pal with a land rover and trailer.have fun.

I think the Land Rover might slow you down a bit Mark - so be bold check all the levels - check the spare - take some spare bulbs and antidazzle strips - fill her up with fuel - load all your luggage...

...and have fun! [:)]

Reminds me of the Blues Brothers; all you need is a full tank of gas and some sun glasses.
For everything else there's Mastercard.

Thanks for the advice... and as a former Rover SD1 owner I know all about breakdowns!!

I have faith in my 924s!!!
.... but if I *do* break down don't be surprised to see a post asking for help if I can get access to an internet Cafe!

Cheers
Mark
