Dear All
I would like to tap the collected wisdom and experience of the forum
I have in mind to do a Summer tour round Europe in my 996 in Julyish
I have two weeks or there abouts and will probably end up in budpest for 2 nights
I am struggling with the best route there and back,by that i mean best scenary driving roads etc
there are no guide books I am aware of
I have in mind southern germany,Italy Switzerland,Austria ,and bit of France
I have been with the club on the factory tour to Stuttgart but beyond that it is abit of a mystery
As an opener what is the brenner pass like
Fast bits twisty bits slow bits picturesque bits you get the idea
Also any suggestions on hotels etc would be gratefully received

cheers in advance

Richard

Richard,

Definately go for it. My wife and I did something similar last Sept (to Milan, via NL, B, L, F, CH, and back via A, D and NL) - see my running report here (with pics) ... http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=424558

Brenner is boring, though. Not that high - just a raised motorway - no better than the M62 imho.

However, the Furka and Grimsel passes were wonderful. We were going to do the Stelvio on the way back, but a combination of poor weather and reports of too many tourists put us off.

thanks for the posts guys
will look into the book
the furka pass looks awesome better not speed
some guy on pistonhheads is about to have the shirt off his back taken by the swiss police

I have the same book as Mark which is very good, another book worth looking at is the from the AA, The AA Best drives Switzerland.

I'd also suggest you take a look at www.alpineroads.com and just pick any they suggest..[8D]
