Tow ball key stuck in locked position

Hi,

I tried to fit my tow hitch to my Cayenne S today and found the tow hitch red key in the locked position.

It all seems to be pretensioned as per the book but the key will not go to the unlocked position. I have the 5mm gap and the red mark is in the green and the locking balls are wound in. I am loathed to try to put it in like that as I can imagine it might get stuck.

The key rotates 90 degrees but doesn't go to unlock.

Can anyone help?

Thanks all

Ben

I had this on my tow bar so I simply removed the non conforming locking barrel using a thin screwdriver and of course a hammer. The only downside now is that you need to remove it once finished with or it'll soon disappear!

Thanks for the advice. It's a shame that it's that easy to break the lock though as I imagine they aren't cheap to replace. I got mine working as it turned out the head of the key was on the wrong way around so it looked like it wouldnt unlock. Sorted it now though.
