Tow eye cover

Hi All,
Some b*8*780*** has stolen my front towing eye cover out of the bumper, I sourced one from the Porscheshop, I told him the part number, the guy sounded very vague saying that part number didn't exist (strange I thought as I got it from PET )and sure enough it was the wrong part, too small. So sent it back and got a full refund bar the postage of course []! Does anyone know where I can source one from, maybe a second hand one even.
It looks pants missing!

Thanks

Graham

hi graham, is julie the name you use on other forums?!.. [;)]

I just had a quick look on ebay but doesnt seem to be anything there.. For a small bit like that I would try a breakers, but to be honest its probably going to be nearly as cheap (assuming you can buy it on its own) to get one from an OPC.. I just brought a towing eye from Porsche Nottingham and it was only about 12 quid; might be worth giving your local a ring

Julie / Graham,

I bought one a couple of weeks ago from the Bristol Porsche Dealership.
Including Porsche Club 10% discount the total price was £5.39.

Part number is: P964.505.103.00 G2 Cap

I bought one for the back bumper - I assume they're the same??

They only come in grey primer finish (not colour specific) so you'll have to give it a coat of paint. You can get an aerosol can of colour-matched paint made up at your local Halfords parts desk - you'll need to take along your factory colour code which should be on a paper sticker either inside your bonnet area or inside one of the door shuts.

Hope this helps,
Rich

word of warning; Halfords struggle with some non-standard/custom colours, but provided you know the vehicle manufacturer, year and colour name they can sort it out [:)]

Blast! I've just bought a new towing eye off ebay for £12.95 + postage! That'll teach me to assume everything on ebay is cheaper[&:]

I found out the hard way too.. I brought a cd changer mounting bracket for my old beemer from ebay for £12 which I thought was good value, and then when I found it was the wrong one (it was for a 7 not a 5'er) I got one from the dealers for £3!!!.. [] A whole nine quid? that'll learn me!.. [:D]

Hi All,

Yes thanks for all the quips about my name it is actually Graham and no I'm not a cross dresser!! Not that htere's anything wrong with cross dressing if that lights your candle but it's not for me! It was a logging in error when I first signed up to the forum...can I change my user name???[8|]
Anyway the cover cap for the front bumper, I measured the back one at the weekend and it is smaller than the front hole, does anybody know the part number of the front one, then I'll order the part from a porsche dealer I think, and hope it doesn't get nicked again, I noticed the back one is held on with a bit of cord, should the front be the same?

Cheers

Graham.

my front one has one of those barbed plastic tag things a bit like clothing labels which holds it onto the bumper when its popped out for towing. best bet on part number is to call your local dealer; they will be able to look it up in seconds, and if its the wrong one when it arrives you will be able to exchange it no questions..
