TPMS Valve Caps

Simple question.....can I use any plastic valve cap on my TPMS valves? I read about the issues of using metal caps which can fuse to the aluminium stems. I see the OPC sell nice ones for just £42. What are they? Gold?

Yep, no special dust caps needed for pressure monitoring valves.
Metal caps are more resilient, but I recommend, if fitting these, you do so using some anti-seize compound.

When I had a 997 Turbo with grey caps I was told by the OPC that I had to replace them with the original Porsche ones or there would be problems with the TPM. They were twice the price of the Audi ones albeit black. I bought Audi ones and nothing bad happened. Amazingly the regular thefts of my dust caps stopped! Grey is obviously more desirable than black. Incidentally my 991 Turbo has black ones.

Hi JAW

I picked up a nice set of inexpensive metal hexagonal caps with the Porsche crest from PorscheShop. They attach with a small allen key so - picking up on Clive's point - are reasonably safe (I hope).
