TPMS Valve fault

Both of my N/S TPMS valves seem to be very slightly leaking. I‘m having to top both up every couple of weeks. Our local tyre centre say that the valves are not repairable and will need new ones that have to come from Porsche OEM.
Are the TPMS valves a serviceable item or do they need replacing?
Thanks. Jon

I spoke to the Service team at Solihull today and mentioned your TPMS problems. They said they haven’t had any similar issues, the new Winters usually just require a change of setting on the dash system from Summer to Winter and confirming the wheel sizes.

They are inclined to believe that there could be a problem with the actual sensors in the Winter wheels, which don’t seem to retain the coding.

This thought was due to the fact that you don’t seem to have any problems when you swap back to the Summer set.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards David

Jon,

If you’ve not done so already I would check your tyre pressures regularly with a gauge to make sure that the TPMS isn’t registering faulty values. I would have thought it very unlikely that all your valves are leaking?🤔

Morning Jon,
In answer to your question yes nearly all TPMS units are serviceable, albeit not all.

I’m guessing it’s the actual valve stem seals that are leaking. On our cars most are clamped in by a small nut, which has a seal on the bottom of it, this can often start to leak after a while due to corrosion or if a wheel has been refurbished and the unit was refitted.

If it’s the Schrader valve (the insert) that’s leaking this could also be corroded to the point it can no longer be removed from the valve as the little lugs snap off, hence you would need a complete stem. Either way it’s not the end of the world as normally they simply bolt on to the electronics with a small grub screw. That way you shouldn’t need to replace the full sensor as most good tyre retailers can sort these at a very reasonable price.

Hope this is answers your question
Greg.
