TQ: Gear selection problem

I've not heard of this problem before - any thoughts people?

I have a 924S late 1985, the circlip on the gear shaft keeps jumping out thus restricting the gears to 1,3&5 only, is this a common problem?

I have now fitted a new circlip and O rings which appears to have resolved this problem.
