Track brake pads

Hi All,

Having trouble finding some decent front and rear pads for my 1988 944 S. Going to be using it for regular track use (not race). I've done a search and have looked at a lot of suppliers websites but there's not much for standard 2.5's all S2 and Turbo stuff.

What are people running for this kind of thing - what experiences and what good suppliers? Just a nudge in the general direction would be much appreciated.

First track day in it 1st June and want to make sure I change the pads fluid and maybe to braided hoses too.

Thanks all.

Damn it missed this - have ordered some EBC red stuff.

Will see how well they do and then do performance friction after once they die. Thanks very much.

Think you might be trying Performance Friction long before the Reds wear out.......if you want to stop.

Performance Friction make pads, but they seem to be listed as 924S parts.

Can you reccomend a supplier for these (early sliding caliper type)? The PF website seems contradict itself somewhat.

I agree with Rich about EBC *shudders*.

I do have a link for a vendor somewhere. I will try to be more forthcoming when I have more than an iPhone for reference...

This is all Ive found so far. I might have mixed up Pagid and PF; but Im still reasonably confident that Ive seen PF for ATE calipers...

Pain that I didn't know to use 924 as a search as well - just couldn't find much for a standard 944.

Reason I went for red stuff was that was listed on Porsche shop and the guy there I spoke to said they would be good (I know he was trying to sell them of course). Surprised someone like PorscheShop would sell them if they are pants? Only one way to find out I guess now they are ordered. Can't be worse than standard pads though right?

Can always replace discs and pads at once after a few track days.

I run EBC green pads and EBC grooved discs on my 205 gti, whenever I tell anybody they look at me like I am mad and have fitted the worst brake materials known to man,I find them really really good, great around town and I have done quite a few hard track days with no fade or judder, perfect pedal feel, maybe because I am using EBC discs.????
Don't get why they have such a bad rep..??

I have used and liked

Pagid Blue, a bit hard and need warming, but will do long track day runs.
Mintex 1144 a bit soft but don't need warming great cold bite. I use for hill climbs and sprints
Mintex 1155 very good cold bite, have these fitted at the mo and will stick with them.

The Carbone Lorraine are so good the disks usually hardly hold a complete year under intense use.

Thanks guys not too expensive either.

Will try the red stuff for a few days and then when it comes time/feel the need to change discs too will get the CLs if they are that good :)

The options for the sliding calipers are pretty limited I believe. Much more choice on the 4 pot calipers. If you could get PF's they would be great.

I used reds on my 924S - they stopped the car and lasted, but weren't very pleasant to use.
