Hi, anyone booked into the trackdays.co.uk session at Castle Combe on Nov 12th? I will be there for my shakedown session in the 944S2 after the cancellation of the club day at Goodwood on the 10th. Would be nice to catch up with other forum members.

Hi,

Not seen any 944's at the last couple of Castle Combe track days, so will make a change to see one.

Mine will be laid up for the winter by then, but will be interested to see what you have done.

Track car is next on the list after finishing garage extension. [;)][;)]

Cheers, Jeff

I would love to have done that one but mine will likely be out of action till December, so probably more like February if we have another winter like last year.

Have a good one though.

Hi Jeff,
What will you be doing on the day? I will be sure to say hello. Look out for red S2 with F40 number plate!

Well, Jeff, 944's must be like London buses....none for ages then 3 turn up! We teamed up with 2 black turbo's for an entertaining day at a greasy, cold Castle Combe. I suspect we were the commonest single model there. First blood for the track day car so how did the shakedown go? In word, fantastic. I am chuffed to bits with the car. Having campaigned my 996 there many times I can say a 944 S2 is just as much fun, if not more fun. The engine is fabulous with creamy pulling power out of corners and plenty of puff down the straights. The chassis is a handful in the wet due to no traction control but all the better for learning car control. On a drying line the 50/50 balance started to shine through. The brakes were more than adequate in the wet but started to go a bit long on the faster dry laps so I will change to racing fluid and look at improving cooling. The front of the car seems well sorted. 8J rims and max neg camber give a nice dialled in feeling. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the rear which feels saggy and poorly controlled. I suspect worn bushes and/or ARB issues but at least I know where to direct inspection over the winter.

Anyway, thanks to all the marshalls and staff at CC for standing out in miserable weather and thumbs up to Trackdays.co.uk who put on a well organised and reasonably priced day. We'll be back for more!

2k 944S2 as a track day toy? Superb. I am a convert!!
