Track Day Insurance - Nurburgring

Hi all,
Does anyone have a contact for accidental damage cover etc for a single day at the ring?

Can anyone suggest the likely cost for a car worth around £14k?

Trip being planned for Easter weekend, 11-13th April.

Have sent for online quotes from Moris and Egger Lawson, awaiting response.

Thanks in advance

Rick

Some UK insurers specifically exclude the ring, but many do not.
Never ring your insurrance company and ask if the ring is covered as they will say no, However your insurrance covers you to drive in Europe providing you have a green card (you dont actually get a green card anymore but its still reffered to this way) That cover entitles you to drive on all European roads covered by that states usual road laws, the only thing your insurrance excludes is racing, timed track events etc, however - The Nurburgring is policed by usual german road laws and you must obey the law so carry the spare bulbs, the triangle and the high visibility vest, you are not there to race or to time your lap, as the ring is not a race track it is an unrestricted one way toll road - Your insurrance covers this

Theoretically maybe. Absolutely don't count on it.

Yes you see lots of patrol cars on there. [&:]

I would assume that unless you have it in writing you are not covered.

My policy does exclude the ring by name, so no luck there []

Moris have quoted me £130 for one day for £15K cover with £2000 xs, which sounds good to me [:)]

Awaiting the other quotes i have sent for online now......

I did the ring 18 months ago and is a great experience, but beware it's not just insurance for your car. Any accidents resulting in damage to the track (crash barriers, oil spill) or if the track needs to be shut to remove a car they will charge you for loss of revenue. I saw a 911 wipe out and was it recovered on a low loader in a lot of small pieces, it cost the guy about £1000 for loss of revenue etc on top of his car. Do it but be wise, do a slow initial lap keep well over to the right. You always know where the accident spots are as there always lots of spectators just waiting for a crash to happen. The track is well marshalled too.

Thanks for the info, i have read lots in preparation for this trip (Ben Lovejoy etc) but AFAIK i cant get insurance for those sorts of costs?

I will be leaving with the updated E111 card thing, medical insurance and cover for the car.

Is there anything else i can get to help?

Cheers

Rick
