Track day insurance....or not?

Im thinking of booking a track day @ Brands Hatch. Im not looking to break any lap records just to find out what the car (and I ) am able to do!
I know there are track day insurance packages out there but are they worth it or are there so many get out clauses that they would never pay out should anything untoward happen?

The time to plan this best is when you renew your road policy. Certain insurers will include a number of track days for free. I think Zeb who posts regularly on this forum uses Henderson Taylor and gets 5 a year. I use Porsche insurance and get two.

A stand alone policy is dear, typically the premium is 1% of the risk so insure £20000 car for £200.

Only don't get track day insurance if you can afford the worst case scenario! Typically the excess is 10% of vehicle value too.

as above stand alone is expensive which is why I have stayed with Manning uk as it is included in the policy

For the first time this year I got track insurance. This was from manning and the cost for unlimited 'approved' track days here and in Europe as well as 12 month normal road cover actually worked out less than my multi-policy cover from Admiral for only road use.
