Track day insurance

Hi guys,

apologies if this has been covered many times but scanning through the forum I couldn't find anything relevant.

Have a Track Day via PCGB planned next week. My road insurance company will not cover me for the day so looking for a 'one off' day cover.. Anyone have any suggestions on who to approach and what should cover.

You can get 2 track days included via Porsche insurance / marsh/ Aviva If not there are several that come up in a google search 1 I tried insuremytrackday.com for a comparison but found them expensive - may be worth a try if you have no cover?

Hi Earlier this year the best quotes I got were £257 AON (my current insurer0 Excess 10% Morris £297 Excess £3000 On Track £600. Excess not stated. Geoff

You can also Sky Insurance for one day cover. Most insurers will charge an excess of 10% of the value of the car. Or you could just not bother, it's not required.

Porsche Club partners Lockton Insurance offer great rates to Club members and cover Club track days and some others. Club office will also advise on specific track day insurance if you give them a ring.

I spoke with Locktons in last 4 weeks and they needed advance notice of all track days and on receipt of this they would let me know. Not very practical. I realise OP was looking for day cover but with Mannings the additional premium for unlimited UK track days organised by recognised car clubs or ATDO members for me costs around £280 on top of a no track day cover annual road insurance. This was true for the Carrera GTS and now the Cayman. Day cover will be about the same for one track day. For a couple of track days, it is difficult to beat Porsche/Aviva subject to base premium being competitive

I agree porsche / marsh offer a good option - I have a niggle though ; when I phoned this week to arrange track day 2 of the year they charged me £20 to issue the cover note. Ah says me you never charged that before ? Either in previous years with them or in May 2014 under the same policy for day 1 Oh they say it's an amendment to the policy so we charge £20 At this point I get off the phone and send them a grumpy email saying it's not an amendment I am merely exercising the option I bought with the policy ie 2 track days and advising them of the dates I want to use them. I feel the £20 is set low so people won't complain and pay and is a liberty. So they call back a few days later and waive the £20 and apologise but say it will be due in future as it is an amendment as described in the policy. I thank them for waiving but tell them they should make this clear that the policy will go up £40 if you use the track days --- any similar experience.????s

I have used my track day cover twice last year and once this year, so I've got one left for 2014. When you speak to Marsh you need to be firm and tell them that the policy you purchased includes 2 track days at no extra cost and if they have an issue with this refer them to the Porsche Insurance sales brochure which you can get from your OPC as it states quite clearly that 2 days per year are included in your premium. There is no admin charge to pay. When I tried to get the first one last year they tried to tell me it was going to cost an additional £280, but after I explained that was nonsense they agreed it was no additional cost but the excess was 10% of the car's value. I get the impression not all the staff actually know what their product covers.

My insurance with ClassicLine includes cover for track days organised by kosher car clubs like PCGB, £1k excess IIRC, for free. They will cover other track days, but for a fee - IIRC £50.

Waxman - I insure with Porsche/Marsh/Aviva. When I notified them of the PCGB track day at Anglesey they tried to charge me £20 but I said that was not agreed as part of my policy (which was due to expire). They immediately waived it. When I renewed in June I was specifically told that track day cover was now subject to a £20 admin fee although I can't say that I've read the small print of the policy documentation to see if it's actually written in there.

Mannings you just buy the policy - don't need to notify them about any actual track days

Hi all Thanks so much for the responses. I tried a few with varying results. Ranged from one off for the day of £306 with 10% excess to £1300 for the year and included 5 track days. Joke! In the end I plumped for cancelling my road insurance with a month to go and going with Locktons. £600 for the year incl all PCGB track days. Good deal I think in the end. They were very helpful and provide a pretty comprehensive road insurance along with it. Thanks again guys. Talking of track days, anyone on the Croft day tomorrow? If so see you there Regards

I am insured with porsche /marsh / aviva.and am looking to do a trackday in september but i cannot find any mention in my paperwork about haveing two free trackdays cover , although i do recall the sales consultant mention it to me when i took out the policy two and a half years ago , should these be included in my policy ?

Already mentioned above try Manninguk.com My insurance this year is about £350 including unlimited track days with and excess for the track days of £1500 or 10%.
