Track day insurance

That's sound advice because my current policy expires in September. I did ask Adrian Flux about this but they said that this type of policy was not offered anymore.

Hi I am looking for some advice , thanks in advance and I might have placed this in the wrong area , so apologies. I have booked on the Blyton Park track day on the 1st October. I have participated in track days before with my 924 and never bothered with track day insurance. Obviously because my 997 value is ten fold what my 924 was , I thought I would get a quote for the day. I was shocked at £320 with no third party cover . I was expecting half that amount to be honest . My question is do the members bother with TDI at PGB track days ? My previous experience is I will be grouped with similar experience drivers with limited numbers on the track, is this correct. If the members do take out insurance where should I be getting quotes from and what are the ball park costs. I got my quote from Adrian Flux , no mention of excess so is there scope there? I never thrash my car's and don't intend to start anytime soon. I have checked out the track, lots of wide open spaces and run offs , no high kirbs from what I can see. I cannot see many opportunities to take the car past a ton . Any help or advice greatly appreciated, many thanks .

Try Manning or if you don’t do many miles Locktons. Classic line might also be worth asking.

Stand alone try reis.co.uk

So Locktons are the PGB partner , I only cover about 6000 miles a year if that. Mannings of Oxfordshire? Thanks for the information, hopefully I can sort something out prior to my track day, thanks buddy.

+1 for both Mannings and ClassicLine Stephen. Currently I'm with ClassicLine but previously was with Mannings. Both are good and offer track day cover, as do Locktons, but I've not yet received a competitive quote from them, although some have.

Many thanks , this is all good news for me [:)]

The next question will be to glove or not to glove . Never had an issue with the 924 , so it's probably going to be no gloves .

I cover my GT4 through Mannings, 6000 miles, cannot remember the exact amount but around £600.

You will have an excess of 10% of cars value which is standard.

They are good, I have been with them for 8 years, I usually get a comparison from Classicline to ensure the quote is competitive.

As suggested give them a try along with Classicline.

Hi, thanks for all the help.

Mannings £700 ish

Classicline £600 ish

Similar cover but classicline won't allow cover for the Nuremberg ring with 6 tracks days, any PGB track days are free.

Mannings it's unlimited with a £250 charge for Europe tracks .

Locktons , nobody has called me back

I have received a rather competitive quote which I have gone with through Locktons.

£539 , cover similar to the others through AXA . All PCGB track days in the UK covered but nothing else. I am only planning on PCGB days so I thought the extra for the other policies were not worth the cost. Thanks everyone for your help.

Can you share your annual mileage and excess + any other parameters you might care to share. I have understood mileage was a big factor for Locktons

Thanks. I pay £650 new GT4 10k miles pa with unlimited track days at Mannings so maybe Locktons are getting more competitive.

ManningUK … 981 GT4 - 8k pa - £500 excess - £60 Windscreen excess - £565

Was told … unlimited trackdays with no prior notification but having just checked the providers (KGM Motor) paperwork … there are significant discrepancies !

Call to ManningUK Monday … !!!

I am guessing their are lots of other factors to consider here , like age, occupation , area , storage and previous claims or convictions .I am 48, hold a clean licence and a manager. The car is stored in my garages to the rear of my home. I would never take what a broker tells you as gospel from my previous experiences. I was unfortunate to receive an IM10 on my licence accompanied with a large fine at the age of 18. My broker had informed me that I could drive any other vehicle on my policy . It was only when I was stopped for speeding in an unmarked Cosworth (36 in a 30) in my dad's car that I took to the small print following a visit to the local police station. The cover was there, but I needed to be 21! My poor dad who was on holiday received 6 points and me also coupled with a £3k fine which I paid. The worse bit was I paid monthly and I needed to take a trip to the courts to pay the installment each month! Good life lesson though that's undoubtedly proofed useful knowledge throught the years.

As always, the detail is in the fine print.

My car is always garaged but my ClassicLine policy stipulates that when at home the car has to be garaged from 10:00pm until 6:00am and not just left on the drive, but other than digging further into the policy details there's no obvious indication of the penalty for not adhering to that stipulation.
