Track day schedule / calendar

OK guys its the usual who is going where and when that we get this time of year. From May onwards for me as I am moving house but I am keen to plan well in advance and try and get on as many days as possible with you guys (I hate being Johny no mates).

Perhaps we could make this a sticky?

That's a water I could dip my toe into ...

I've done one trackday, at Bedford, with my old Golf. I'd love to try another one with my 944.

Prefereably a fairly simple one with little risk of damage to the car ... I am still very much a beginner ...

There is a Silverstone evening on 13th May. I certainly intend to do this one. Having just spoken to Melindi, if we can get 10 or more people confirmed we can get a discount. I dont know how much yet but anything is worth having! Current price is £139. It is a 98db limit - not sure if this is a problem for some people?

Count me in too - I'm itching to get my 944 on track after the RS day at Oulton the other week.

Donnington Park might be a good middle ground for the North/South possies?

Same here. I'm doing my first trackday at Bruntingthorpe this time next month with TIPEC. It's a converted airfield, so no barriers or walls to hit if you do make any mistakes, and supposedly a very beginner-friendly circuit. We've got a few specialists lined up to assist on the day, from alignment guys to driver training.

The only downside is that it's a good long drive back home to Glasgow afterwards, so I'm going to have to be gentle with the brakes when on track, I think. I know Knockhill's my local circuit, but I didn't fancy my first time being on such a twisty track with big barriers all around it "¦ nor did I fancy the Scottish weather sticking its oar in!

I'd be interested in a track day with some fellow 944 owners. I also have done just the one track day, Bedford, but that was in my BMW, so I have yet to take the S2 on the track.

Stop this tempting please .....! I am on the wrong side of the Irish Sea for them days...[:(] Definately hooked... Wheres that straight jacket nurse ...?[:D]

I was considering a Bruntingthorpe day next month - £100 for a full day. However was put off as the track just looks like two straights with a hairpin at either end and a sort of chicane along one straight.

First suggestion - stick any trackdays you book in your sig...like we did last year

I'm up for Silverstone evenings - you get plenty of track time as it's open pit lane. I can't wait to see LIL flying past me down hangar straight. [:D]
Can't make May 13 though, as I'm just back from the 'ring.

Donington is great -
a. It's a superb circuit & really suits the 944
b. It's 20 minutes from my house [:D]

Bedford is a bit dull (IMHO) - not sure I'd ever go back there when there's only so many track days you can afford in a year, & there's Cadwell, Oulton, Croft etc.. to visit.

Let's just hope I can stop when I get to the corner at the end []

The good news for me is that Jon has found a different way to route the induction which will reduce the audible turbine whine and hopefully reduce the risk of falling foul of the driveby noise limits on some circuits.

The bad news is you won't hear the same Whoooosh from outside

I have to admit that when both Peter E and Mark K took me for passenger laps last year after my accident, it was the end of Hangar straight when they went for the brake that I was most nervous [] but after the first lap I was fine.

It will be 'interesting' when I finally get a chance to do it myself again

The one I am promising myself to do this year is Spa. I know it costs but the guys I know that have been never stop saying how brilliant it is. Given my schedule restrictions this year I am aiming to do at most 5 really choice events, but knowing how these things happen might only be 3 or 4.

The next 6 weeks or so is mad for me, I am moving house and will be doing some work in the evenings/weekends on a project I am working on with another company paid out of my own pocket. I suspect this will take up more time later on as well.

How about a 944 trackday get together at Donnie and another at one of the Silverstone events in the summer? These seem to have been very popular in recent years.

Hi Steve, I live in Silverstone village and have been itching to get a go in my 951 around the circuit, Ive done Cadwell on a bike but never been on a tack in the car! If you are still doing the 13th I would love to join in, how do we book???

It is, and there's a lot of concrete to scrub your tyres to nothing too.

Anyone going to Donington or Oulton this year?

I also fancy trying the Anglesey Circuit, but probably Donington as my first one - more room for error than Oulton[&:]

Hi Nick, the more the merrier. Booking is via www.goldtrack.co.uk
There is still plenty of availability for the evening of 13th May. I will be booking in the next week or so.So it looks like there are 3 of us so far. Hopefully a few more will tag along [:D]

I certainly intend to do Donnignton at some point this year, though probably not for a couple of months or so.

yes - still looking for a good date before my ring trip

You have to be quite unlucky to hit anything at Donington - although I have seen it done. [:D]

Point me at it and I'll show you how to hit it [&o]

I won't be driving at Silverstone on May 13th but will certainly come along for the social side and passenger laps. Nick, make sure you get a passenger ride with AndrewS and do your seatbelt up tight, he qualified his 944T racecar on pole for the Porsche Cup race back in 2001 []
