Track Day Tyre Pressures

I have a 996 C2 and I run the tyre pressure as set out in the manual. I was wondering how every one manages the tyre pressures on a track day?

Are you using normal road tyres? I have this thread running here.........

What I do (rightly or wrongly) is start off with road pressures and then let out air after the first few laps and the tyres are nicely warm to drop them back to the starting pressure. I find after the next outing, and as the day/track warms up (if it does!) more air needs to come out. I haven't got into measuring temps across the tyres with the road tyres but will try that next time with the Toyos. Need to have a portable inflater, of course, for the journey home after they've cooled off. One of the GT3 boys had a great device from the States that balanced both pressures on the same axle at the same time (Psiclops). Hope that a bit of help although I sure there are better answers
