Track Day Virgins get Broken In

Myself and a friend Thomas took his 944 Turbo to Mondello race circuit last Friday for a track day. We got the K26-8 fitted on thursday and it made a difference alright. The boost seems to be steady across the rev range with no tailing off in the top end ..(if the boost guage is to be believed that is...!). It definately "feels" quicker but we would need to rolling road it to see what difference it makes.
The first laps were for beginners but every c**t went on the track. No body played by the rules and Thomas was getting passed by boys even though he never indicated to be passed....[] It was pissing the rain and his nerves were shot so I told him to pull in. We waited till the track cleared a bit and went out again. His confidance got better with every session we done right to the point where we were able to overtake a number of cars. On our last session we boiled the brake fluid [;)]
This is a proud moment as Thomas overtakes an E30 M3.......!

All in all we had a superb day... If you are thinking of taking your 944 to the track then do it.. Definately recommended ...[;)]

Another convert, nice one :ROFLMAO:
I find it's always best to avoid the mayhem that follows opening of the track, best to wait until the first lot have come in before going out. I've had some of my best track time towards the end of the day when everyone else has gone home or broken down [;)]

The session immediately after lunch can be a bit hairy as well. Too many people listen to others tall stories while eating and then try to recreate them. Druids flat in 3rd is never going to work. [:D]

I agree, most of us real men take it in 4th :ROFLMAO: (then spend another 6 months at the bodyshop [8|])

Sounds like you had an excellent day Donal. Keep a close eye on your bank balance as it is very easy for this addiction to be quite draining after only one hit on the trackday hash pipe.

[:D][:D] Thanks for that warning Paul but its already got me hooked.. Even though I was a passenger all day..... [:'(]

Its not that expensive compared to the likes of rallying and you definately can learn about yourself and the car in a good safe envoirnment ...! Plus the fact all our burning the midnight oil paid off as the car was superb all day. We met a whole load of like minded (mad...!) people as well

I just checked on the net .. Druids in 4th would be an experience [&:]

Well done guys... I dont mind a busy track as long as its not full of idiots, I like to push on like everyone else and better my lap times but alot of people at the ring seem to be racing for a pot of gold thats just not there ...! Any how now you guys have the bug it will be intresting to see the mods being added to the car over the next year or so [:D]

I hope we can all get together at one of our yearly meets during the Goldtrack Silverstone evenings this year. It'd be nice to aim for record numbers of 944's on track [:D]

I've noticed that they (Goldtrack) actually have many more evenings than normal this year, so lets hope we can get a good gathering at one of them. I think the most we have had for the obligatory pitlane photo has been about eight cars, including Callum with his 968

How about the first one on 13th May? I believe the RPM guys are at that one for the full "professional racing driver with pit-crew" experience. Perhaps someone with suitable authority [;)] could bung a sticky post up. Hopefully certain high-profile cars will be fully-fettled by then!

Sounds good to me [:D] I suppose it might be worth checking with Melindi in case the first one is already well booked before we finalise, but lets wait and see how many people are interested first
