Track Days wheels

I'm wanting to get my self a set of wheel for track days and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the off-set will be on a 964 Turbo. The car is currently on 18" Speedlines .. will the off-set etc be stamped on them anywhere. Would anyone recommend going down to standard diameter wheels (I quite fancy Fuchs) or should I stay with the 18's.

Cheers Dale

Dale, I think 18's may be too harsh for track days. From experience with my other track cars I'd go with something with a bit more sidewall; you'll get a lot more progression before traction breaks completely.

Tis ok now thanks lads ... I just looked in the handbook and got the details out of there ... DOH! [&:]

Dale,

It doesn't sound right because they're not right. Those offsets are for the pre-'89 911 and are totally unsuitable for a 964 of any description. Since they are low number offsets you can't put it right with spacers either - you would need to take metal away from the wheel, not add it. This is one of the great problems with eBay - there are too many people selling stuff they don't understand and are willing to rip off the unsuspecting amongst us.

Regards

Dave

Dale - I have a spare set of 996 Carrera 4 wheels I could be persuaded to part with - they are 17" and with correct offset of 55 and original Porsche (might throw you in some worn MP Cup Sports too if you want) - perfect for track days.

LMK if you are interested.
