Hi John,
There is a vast amount of Track day information to be had through http://www.circuitdriver.com/ logon and you will find all the leading Track day organisations listed, including RMA.[8|] RMA is the club that I did most of my track days with and can vouch for them being a very professionally run enterprise, although they are a little more costly than companies like www.easytrack.co.uk/homepage.asp
[;)]The few days that I do now is with the Goodwood Road Racing Club. http://www.goodwood.co.uk/

Enjoy yourself
Ken

Probably whatever is local, Castle Combe is just fine, with some initial instruction.

However, be wary of airfield circuits. They are not as friendly as a lot of people would suggest:

There is often more loose gravel and the circuit is usually made up from cones.
- If you hit a cone you can damage your car
- The tight complexes can be more difficult to make out

On a proper circuit, the track is clearly defined and the object is to stay on the black stuff. On an airfield circuit, it is usually much tighter and more difficult to 'see' the track.

Having said that, airfield circuits can be fun, but probably not the best place to start.

Both Donington & Silverstone are good circuits for first timers as they have higher construction standards & greater run off in case of over exuberance. [:D]

Oulton Park, Croft & Cadwell Park are more technically difficult circuits, but ultimately more rewarding.

I've only done one track day so far, and that was at Pembrey. It was fantastic and I'm very keen to go again! The track seemed to offer everything from fast sweeping corners to slower twisty bits! I've no other track experience to compare it with but it was a fantastic day and I would highly recommend it!

I'd spent so much of the day grinning that by the evening my face hurt!!!

Yep! Know the feeling, even after years of trackdays.

Will have to have my smile surgically removed. [:D]

I think Bedford should be considered as a first trackday venue, it has lots of run off areas and no additional difficulty due to slopes/cambers.

Of course, as soon as you like doing trackdays and can keep you car on the black stuff then other more picturesque circuits are a must, yes Castle Coombe is fun and I like Mallory as well.

all the best
