Track event for novices.

I am organising a track event for the track day virgins/novices, primarily for the 968s, this will be in the region of about 10 laps around Oulton Park with an option of extending that if you like it, and will take place within the next couple of months.

It will be at a moderate speed so that there will be no significant tyre wear, brake fade or wear and tear on the car. But it will be quick enough so that you can get the feel of the car at a reasonable speed. It goes without saying that cars must be in a roadworthy condition and capable of doing motorway speeds without breaking down.[:)]
I must emphasize that this is for novices only and will be in the form of a procession with an instructor at the front and one in the line every half a dozen cars or so, so that the correct driving line doesn't wander too much.
This means that the novices can get the experience of being on a track safely and learn a little about the correct lines etc. You would be expected to keep up with the line of cars and like wise would not be allowed to drop back and then fire off at 100mph to race around a corner. So if that is your thing, this is not for you.
The price would be less than £30 per car.

Just let me know who would be interested.

Thanks.

sounds absolutely excellent idea. have been waiting for the right moment to lose trackday "cherry" without high risk of trashing daily driver.
3 utter novice questions:
- would we need a helmet?
- is there any problem taking a cabriolet on a track i.e safety restriction cos of soft roof?
- .......where is oulton park? (sorry, but i really dont know)

Hi Tim,
yes a helmet would be needed but they would be available to hire at the track, no problems with cabriolets, Oulton Park is about 10 miles west from J19 M6.

Cheers.

I'd certainly be interested as well....I assume we'd have briefings etc on how to drive the car 'properly'?

did you ever see Schumaker with a hardtop???
nope.
but then Ive never seen him subscribing to a novice trackday either!
(and I would imagine it is considerably easirer to roll a stock 968 than an F1 car)

count me in

Hi Stu,

I fancy this myself, distance notwithstanding, but it would depend on whether the dates stacked up. Can you pencil me in as a possible.

Cheers

could those that intend coming on this event please call me on 0161 355 1275.

thanks,
Stuart.

I've only booked for the novice session so far, but I'm thinking of maybe doing the half day as well. Do I need to bring my driving licence with me ? I know some places ask for them.

Really looking forward to this now, plus the weather forecast is for dry and sunny !! [:)]

Hi Tony,
yes driving licences will be needed,

looks like it will be a fantastic day, 911 and PW are coming to do an article as well.

cheers,
Stuart.

Thanks Stuart for a great day.
Great cars, good company and learnt a lot.
There should be more events like this for PCGB [:D]

Cheers,
Peter

I'll second that! Must get some insurance sorted out and i'll do the full session!
Thanks Stu
Cheers
