I know this clashes with the PCGB trackday at Oulton, but that is up north!!

I am off to Silverstone GP on Wed 19th Nov -- to shake the racecar down after a few adjustments. (£199 via www.goldtrack.co.uk)

Anyone else fancy going? - as usual pax laps on offer if you are able to skip work to watch![FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Paul.
Im going to Oulton the day before. 18th Nov...NOT PCGB...Thats the day after.....
Have a good one...[:D][:D]

Quick report.

Weather stayed fine, dry line appeared from late morning. Car went well after I had re-attached the front PU!! -- it got caught on the trailer when off loading -- bummer. Another 'Stu' was there in his quick red CS. Lots of 911's as well -- chased a few down to keep my hand in! Had about 6 laps behind a TVR Cerbera -- 400bhp and 1150kg v. my 245bhp &1300kg. I was always going to be slower but I tried really hard to stay in touch - most enjoyable.

Rather too many red flags -- Maggots and Club curve seeemd to be the common areas for offs -- judging by the tyre marks, gravel trap holes and ploughing that was evident.

Car ran well but I can now hear the rear nearside wheel bearing -- that now needs doing, then put the car away until next season. Am going to enter the full PCGB Club season and see how far I can go up my learning curve. Winning something will be v tough -- I just received 'Rookie of the Year' in PCGB in 2008 -- that was quite easy as you don't have to win a race!

Dave how did you get on?

Hi Paul.
Yes had a GREAT day,
It was a damp start [so normal road tyres used], but by 11-30am it had dried out, so after lunch the "stickies" were fitted, + suspension stiffened.
There was a few stopages as there were a few who had never been to Oulton before + DIDNT listen to the briefing, As those that know , Oulton + wet track means that Druids is VERY slippy...Therefore those that didnt listen , went off.....[8|][8|][8|]... But they soon learnt, both in financial terms + by getting a "ticking off" from "race control"...
Had a very good couple of sessions chasing + being chased by a E30 BMW, [VERY lightweight], + and a Rover 75, [Again VERY stripped out]...If you want to go fast,,, ADD LIGHTNESS.....[;)][;)][;)]. It makes a huge difference...
The 968 performed faultlessly all day....
Its now being put into "mothballs" for the winter, or should i say getting prepped for next years track attack..[Just a few small mods needed]....[;)][:D][;)][:D][;)]...
Happy days...
PS. I wonder how the PCGB day was .???

Dave, it went really, really well. Only 30 cars booked on. Garages for everyone. No red flags until one about 15 minutes before the end. Same conditions as you had by the sound of it. By the afternoon everyone was flying. Three 968s were on track and Stu Cookson came down in the afternoon for a few p/x laps and the like. Well worth the few extra quid IMO.

Dave, sorry i couldn't make it, as I had hoped at the very least to get over for some spectating/pax laps...[8|]

I would keep that Rover 75 bit quiet if i were you though - did it have tartan rugs on the rear parcel shelf too...?![;)]

Are you planning to add some lightness over the winter time too?

On that subject, could you point me in the direction of a good supplier of lightweight seats? I did make the mistake of buying a carbon fibre GT3 alike seat from someone complete with runners etc, but I will probably sell that and buy some seats from a company I've heard of...[8|][:D]

Dave I have to take some responsibility for some of the spinning even though I wasn't driving, but I did leave the brake bios on the rear and the car was on rubbish tyres when my work college was driving it.[8|] At least it wasn't my car that span on the sighting lap!!
Shame I didn't see you out on track but I think the 968 would be too fast down the straights for the golf, well to be honest everything was too fast down the straights for the golf.[]

Nick.
Sorry you couldnt make it over.. It was a good + lighthearted , well run day.
The "Rover 75" deal doesnt bother me in the slightest. It was fast + well driven + properly set up....
The E30 BMW 325 [FULLY stripped out],was just a fast + he had VERY worn out brakes, [Fronts were metal to metal, as sparks were coming from the discs...],,but it kept me honest.. In fact it kept a lot of folk honest....
On to seats. Give Motordrive Seats, a view, thats where mine came from...Alan the owner drives a Caymen. Decent chap...Mention me + he-ll charge you double... Only kidding...[;)][;)][;)]. He knows Peter S very well also...[Small world this Porsche ownership.]...
Yes i might be adding lightness over the winter period, just where to start...[8|][8|]

Tom, I hope you chaps had a good enjoyable day. Good to meet you in the garage.Sorry if i seemed a bit "distant"...I put it down to hard concentration on track....
I saw you /your golf, as i passed it a few times... At speed, so you probably didnt see me as i was a blue blur...[;)][;)][;)][:D][:D][:D]
