Late call!!!

Just booking a trackday with Goldtrack at Brands this Sunday. Never driven it and wanted to put that right soon. Also have not been on track since late Nov -- that needs to be put right as well!

www. goldtrack.co.uk

If anyone is around and would like to turn up and say hello that would be great. I have a spare helmet and would be happy to offer some lappery if you want to register for passenger rides.

Hope to see someone!

And a lovely sunny day it was too, and quite bracing up on the grand stand.

There was a GT3 giving it some serious stick and another GT3 that could best be described as pedestrian - just goes to show that much is down to the driver not the car.

Paul didn't let the side down and, from our vantage point, seemed to be getting as much as there was to be had when going down Paddock. [:)] He could have cleaned his car though.

So which one was Mr C???? [;)]

John

Good to see you and the camerameister (Rick!) yesterday, very nice day for a run into Kent.

Got quite a surprise when I saw you parked up when driving out at 5 ish as it was getting dark -- 944 owners emerging from dimly lit grandstands at Paddock bend -- pause for thought!! was it some sort of secret society meeting!

I wish I had known you were there earlier, apart from some lappery you could of had in the hot seat next to me, some good chat was on offer with Steve W and others -- also, an extra pair of hands comes in useful when putting the road tyres back on[:D][:D]

til the next time.

Although Tim could have been lapping a fair bit faster (and will undoubtedly do so with a bit more practice) he was not the slowest GT3 there. That honour belonged to a Silver car, who whilst taking things very easy was at least watching his mirrors & moving over, which is more than can be said for a couple of the Caterhams.

Yeah, come one Mr. S.... Name names......[:D] Bit disconcerting when you're one of 'em!!!

Sorry chaps, I got that a bit wrong:

There were at least three GT3's; including a titanium colour, a red one and a silver one. The titanium track car, with no plates, was spectacularly quick and seemed to catch most people in his session. The red car (Tim?) was neither obviously very quick nor obviously slow but equaly did nothing wrong and would be a pleasure to share a track with. The driver of the silver car seemed keen that we should get a good picture of him as, each lap, he seemed to haul the car up almost to a stand still before turning into Paddock. Perhaps, he had a problem with his set up.

There were several Caterfields. Two cars noticably carried a lot of speed through the bends and were heal and toeing, so perhaps knew what they were doing. As an exWestfield racer I can perhaps appreciate their frustration, particularly on Brands Indy Circuit. Very few road cars should beat a good Caterfield on the twisty circuit, but you do have the inevitable speed differential down the straights. A Caterfield hasn't got the grunt to pass a GT3 but will be slowing down much more than he needs to if he is following you through a corner. As a result of this both drivers will think that they can go faster than the car in front. In truth they may well be lapping at similar times but neither will carry the same speed at the same point on the track.

Had I got my finger out and been taking part I know which of my cars I would rather have been driving - Option 1: Quick, freeze your parts off and liable to die if anybody hits you, option 2: Nice and warm with plenty of car around you but still fast enough to be fun. As someone once said "Porsche - There is no substitute" [;)]

Wot a diplomat!!!

Excellent!

/Monty Python/ He's not a diplomat, he's a very naughty boy /Monty Python/

LMAO

I'll check the pictures from Sunday later. As John says, one GT3 was putting in good times.

We couldn't time one because we forgot to bring a calendar [:D][:D] The brake fade tests seemed to work ok, though.

Tim

Your driving manners were excellent and it was a joy circulating with you -- as I said at the end it was very kind of you not to overtake me on track, you must of been going quite fast then!!!

The titanium GT3 was rather special, it was a track only car -- with I think lightweight panels, indecent amounts of negative camber -- all transported to the circuit in an artic from 'In2Racing' so on that basis you were the fastest road going one on the circuit.

What is the next track day you have planned?

Paul

The titanium car was one of last years Carrera Cup cars & is being raced again this year.

Not to take anything away from Tim, I actually think the fastest road going GT3, was a Guards Red MkII that seemed to leave early - or at least I didn't see him during the afternoon.

Well, April 23 is PCGB Goodwood but I shall be watching the Goldtrack days.....

Hmmmm, who is this white car at opposite lock in the background [&:]

Nice pics Tim, the car looks gorgeous even when covered with trackday grime [8D] (I bet its pristine again by now though)

The car is my daily driver so (shock horror) I haven't had time to clean it yet. It was gleaming as we left on Sunday but by the time we got to Brands it was filthy.

All that salt[:-] daren't even think about it.....

I promise I'll clean it and check it over on Saturday[8|]

Good shots indeed -- yes, they are brilliant and very well indexed on the picman site.

Must get around to washing my car as well, dirtiest it has ever been-- the thought of all that salt eating into things is horrible to think about.

Paul S --- White car -- opposite lock? you jest!! but then trips into the cat litter are something else!
