Trackday @ Goodwood today

So just got back from my first trackday in the S2. Had a great time. S2 is definitely a lot of fun out on track and Goodwood is a very fast track. I ran into a Triumph owner who was looking to sell his car and was thinking of getting a 944S2 so let him check out the car in detail. He loved it. Even though there were 911 galore he only had eyes for "goldie" haha

great to be able to get in the car with a helmet and not have to sit the seat back in an odd angle where I cant reach the controls properly. The car drove beautifully with the KWs and brake upgrade.....very exploitable and confidence inspiring to push hard. It was interesting coming up behind a few mates in their 964s and where their back end was wiggling all over the place the 944 was totally planted. It wasnt boring to drive....just meant I could get into a good rhythm and brake late (and not that often) and get on the power much earlier than what I am used to. Ok its not the fastest car out there but it was a hoot.

The day was organised by 911uk and it was for charity so it was for a good cause. Some pics below

Clutch felt a bit soft during about the 4th session. Didnt seem to come back up from the floor as quickly as it should when I was changing gears........weird....anyone else experienced this??..................seemed ok when i drove home.

some cheeky fecker doodled all over my window as well................[8D]

Haha......maybe I didn't push it hard enough today. Next time.......though at Goodwood not many good things happen if you exit the track........

Looks like Oldtimer was there in his orange 964 track day car-also looks like the nearside front wing on the orange 964 is crumpled -or is it just funny shadows off the pit bay roof?

Could be a master or slave cyl problem - early indication of failure maybe. Check for leaks but its not all that that expensive to change them both.

Yes old timer was there and the wing is crumpled. I think he mentioned a wheel suspended above the car and it fell onto the wing.......could be wrong though.

Sounds like you had a blast Andrew, good to see you enjoying Goldie

I like the doodle on the window too! [:D]

Thanks guys. Appears I am also getting hot air into the cabin when I start the car first thing which then seems to have a mind of its own....then about 20mins into a drive the temp rectifies itself......hmm

Can only imagine how fun a 375bhp turbo would be in this package.......hmmm.........

A few laps of a mate in his 964......he and passenger are ok........right hand side of his car not so........

Oops. When the rear starts to go on a 964 it takes lightning reflexes to catch it. Hope the damage was not too bad.

Glad you enjoyed the S2... The 944 suits my track driving style (skill?) very well and I'm thoroughly enjoying mine.

Cheers
Mick

Andrew I hope you know that one of the responsibilities of the owner of this particular s2 is to organise the annual 944 trackday [:D]

Haha.....we will see. I will start a thread and see what the feedback is like.

There is a trackday at Brands on sun 1st of December that I will probably book.

Oh no he's got the itch! [:D]

My thought too. Take note S2 owners. The owner of the ultimate S2 is now considering how itd drive if it had the ultimate power plant...

I did overtake my friend in the black 964rs and after we discussed the car and what it's had done he did say "no wonder it drives so well"....I think for a sec he thought it was 100% stock.......[:D]
