Trackday insurance ???

I`m with Royal Sun Alliance through Footman James for my insurance on the C2, and plan a few trackdays next year.

But can`t see a trackday part in my policy.

Can I get / do need special insurance for the day ?

Or do I need a policy which has trackday cover included (I thought I had!).

cheers

If they said trackdays were included when you took out the policy I'm not surprised that you've found nothing on the R&SA documents. They don't put it on the main documents. You need to contact the broker who should be able to send you a separate page with the trackday conditions.

Most insurers that provide you with cover require that you notify them that you are going on a trackday just before the event.

My own insurer, Heritage which is an R&SA policy, covers me for Club trackdays only. Other companies will offer a scheme where you pay a small amount for each trackday. In most cases there is an excess of 10% of the car's value so you have to be unfortunate enough to do a lot of damage for the insurance to pay out. In most cases it's there in case you write off the car on the track.
