Trackday Photoshoot + Parade Laps

Breaking News.

Thanks to the efforts of Steve Kevlin we have permission from the circuit to line up the cars for the anniversary photoshoot on the starting grid at the start of the lunch break.

Just before the track sessions restart we can run a couple of parade laps before coming back off the circuit.

Just to clarify a parade lap means single file with NO overtaking following a pace car at a modest pace. No hanging back and no peforming please!

This is great news John!

Thanks to yourself and Steve for getting this together.

So everyone - are we getting a few more coming now? [:)]

No.

The Photoshoot is scheduled for the Trackday lunchbreak. Meaning the Trackday nutters have a chance to be in it, and giving the "social" crowd time to get there without having to set off at 4 in the morning[;)]

Everyone who takes part in the photoshoot will be able to take part in the Parade Laps (these WILL have to be slow - too many cars to go fast!)

So - the Photoshoot and Parade Laps are open to ALL Boxsters - whether taking part in the trackday or not [:)]

And don't get too excited as it's only likely to be a couple of laps! [:)]

Ah, but for us more 'nervous' ownerrs, it is a marvellous chance to get a feeling for driving on a track and who knows...? Perhaps a future trackday participant?

Incidentally, what time should the 'helpers' get to Castle Coombe for any relevant briefing etc.? Is there a time table for those who have been promised a seat in a hot lap?

Julian

Track sessions normally start at around 09:00.

You've been nominated Helper Chief of Staff but anytime am will be fine.

Hot-laps

No promises folks but I have a list of 12 names for passengers but I do not know when the GT3's will be on track.

John

As Helper Chief of Staff [what a description] and with an assistant Helper Chief of Staff [Judy] - perhaps you could let me know how many helpers I should expect and what their duties are likely to be.

I do not know what facilities are available at Castle Combe and perhaps some indication would help me plan things.

I think that we will need track marshals, first aiders and someone to keep an eye on things - and to be supervised by an experienced track marshal. Are there walkie-talkies?

I hope to get at the track early - the AA route planner tells me that it will take me about 2 1/2 hours to get there from North London.

As the management of Castle Coombe will provide all track assistance, I suspect your duties will be limited to obtaining free breakfasts, lunch. coffees, teas and mars bars for the GT3 drivers.

As Tim says - the track stuff is all handled by Castle Combe and Club Motorsport.

It's likely to be the "extras" we need help with [:)]

(And thanks Julian[8D])

Julian

All the Trackday stuff is organised and staffed by Steve Kevlin and the Castle Combe circuit.

Hot Laps

Taking charge of the Hot Lap seats is one task that needs to be tackled. I have a list of names of people wanting rides (including one for the HCOS and one for the AHCOS). I have two and a bit GT3's acting as hosts but I know more are coming. So grabbing any of the other GT3 drivers and enlisting their help would be a bonus.

People waiting to go need to be introduced to the car and driver and ready to go as soon as that session is released on to the track. People have paid for track time do they will not want to be hanging around when it is their turn.

Photoshoot

While it may not sound like much getting the cars organised for the lunchtime photoshoot will be a major evolution if previous experience of getting more than 3 Boxsters and their contents coordinated is anything to go by.

The plan is to get all the photoshoot cars on to the starting grid when the last of the morning sessions completes. This means that they are ready to go during that session. Once on the grid they remain for static shots. Just before the first afternoon session starts the photoshoot cars will have the opportunity for a couple of laps behind a pace car.

Steve Kevlin needs this part of the day to go very smoothly so as not to waste any on-track time so making sure that everyone involved knows what to do will be very important.

Evening Meal

Last, but by no means least, is taking a head count of those people that are planning to take an early evening repast.

I'm sure that more things will crop up not least you and I meeting! [:)]

Bought a CGLock at the Motorsport show and have done 3 trackdays in the last few months with it.
It REALLY makes a difference , you find yourself no longer bracing your leg when cornering hard against the centre consol if you don't have bucket seats and or a race harness.

Claire and I will be helping all day too Julian. You are not on your own [:D]

Mark / John,

Do you know if there are any spaces left for the Castle Combe Trackday this Saturday??? My brother in-law is very interested in joining us in his 2.7. If there are any spaces could you please pencil him in. Cheers

Dan

He will need to contact Steve or Paul at Cornbury.

The day is full but there may be a last minute drop-out.
