Trackdays

How well do you find your Boxster responds to the increased stress of a track day? I was at Silverstone yesterday on the GP circuit. It was my first trackday, and apart from some tyre degradation and slight bluing of the front discs, it went round very well for 160ish miles, over seven 30 minute sessions. But today I'm sensitive to every noise! Its almost like I need to re-aquaint myself with the car for normal road driving. Probably the case that the car responded well, it's just me developing some form of post-track day paranoia...

Hi
I was there as well in group 2 black Boxster S.
The tyres always take a few miles on normal roads to get all the crap off the tyres that they pick up on track.Mind you it was very slippery for the first couple of hours but dried up nicely later.
Always a well run day with Goldtrack.
Have done 14 trackdays in this car since new (20 months and 53,000 miles) and I think the car runs better than it did when new.Have been through a fair few set of brake discs and pads.
If you are going to do alot of trackdays would recomend setting the suspension up with more negative camber. It gives a greater degree of turn it but can be a bit more tail happy ie more fun. Also reduces understeer.
I am on track again in a few weeks if you want a bit of company.

Grant you must have been 10 (I think the second digit was torn?), I was 007 - although I suspect the leading zeros were unnecessary[;)] and Melindi was just having some fun given my novice status - it was my first time out. Thanks for the offer of some company. I'll likely be there with some members of a club I'm in, but I'll keep an eye out for you at future days and come and say hello.

Yes, the car has more -ve camber front and rear, see an earlier thread I launched about alignment on my car. Inside of rear LH tyre seems to have "suffered" most.

Hi

Did Silverstone last summer (Gp circuit) - No rpobelms with tyres or breaks - well except for the fact whne I went to leave thesurface layer had sort of melted into a kind of slick - with a ripple effect from the track/rumble strips. After a good run home they were fine, 25,000 miles plus on the current set, including tack day and they have a couple of mills to go.

Mind you found the odd stone rattling about in odd places

On this basis they do very well - its a light car it has very good handling so it should be quite light on tyres and breaks
