Trackdays!

Well my mind is starting to drift back in the direction of the track after our experiences last year...

For example, I see that four 20 minute novice sessions are available at Brands on the evening of 19th April at £20 each.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Also, although I am categorically not organising a WOTY as such this year, I am happy to organise a trip to one of the more distant tracks for participants and spectators some time in the summer. A full novice day at Cadwell Park in April for example is only £129, though I guess this may go up in the summer and at least one overnight will be needed. Travelodges are cheap however.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Anyone who is interested in either option please reply to this thread.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Cheers[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]James[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]

My mistake, it's £25 per session, not £20.

Here's a link to the relevant page of the MSV website. The whole website is worth a look actually, lots of good info and fun things to do![FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana,geneva"]http://www.clubmsv.com/car-home/taster-sessions.aspx[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]There are lots of different ways to get track day insurance btw. My road policy includes trackdays if they are run by an approved firm (of which MSV is one), or you can buy separate cover each time, just for the track day. Worth asking around at the BiH next weekend.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]I can't be doing a block booking for this, too much cash involved, so it's up to everyone to book thmselves. I'll book two or three sessions personally and will place the booking in the week. Once you've booked just let me know so I know how many we have.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]If anyone has any questions just drop me a PM via the forum or call 07935 314021.[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Cheers[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]James[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Yes, I'm interested but I need to check if I can get that afternoon off work.
I did this Novice trackday at Brands in August last year (2 sessions) superb! I think you need at least 3 sessions to get "into the groove"

PCGB are doing a novice session at Brands one evening -check it out.

Unlike the MSV sessions, it will be 100% Porsche..........

Hi Melv

A group of us from R19 did the PCGB novice evening at Brands in 2009. We had a great time but IMO it just doesn't stack up financially. Sure, the PCGB day is all Porsche and you get the use of a pit garage but the cost is fully 100% more than an MSV track day at Brands for an equal amount of track time. 20% or maybe 30% more I could understand but not 100%, no way. I've been wondering about the reason for the price difference ever since to be honest. I've done a couple of tasters at Brands before and the fact that you can pay anything between £25 and £100 makes it great value and the mix of cars actually made it more interesting I thought. Just my own personal view obviously.

Cheers

James

Fair comment -could you forward it to Steve Kevlin???

PS Looks like we're almost neighbours!![;)]

Even if I don't commit to a track drive, I don't mind coming along to spectate or shout abuse. [;)]

Or praise, perhaps?

Remind me, what's up with your car Tony?

Indeed! I don't think we've met at any R19 gatherings though have we. Are you in Surrey region?

Who knows, where's the border??[;)] Leastways I'm on the right side of the M25.....[:D]

I'm definitely up for this...it was great fun last time, and I reckon I'd do 2 or 3 sessions this time.

Which ones have you booked, James?

I am fitting poly-bushes to the suspension with new oem struts/shocks - in the vain hope it will tighten the handling. Whilst I was down there, so to speak, I also refurb'd the steering pump which was leaking like a sieve. The bad news is I've found corrosion on the lower front wing, so that will need rectifying in a bodyshop at some point. Just don't tell my better half....

I went for taster sessions at 17:40, 18:20 and 19:40.

Note: If you pay the £99 for four sessions, that is not the four taster sessions. It's four regular track sessions that run in between the tasters. I nearly went for that because that way you only have to do sighting laps on the first session. But I thought the tasters would be more sociable.

In case anyone fancies joining us for lunch or coming to the track to spectate on 19/04:

We are meeting for lunch at MB World at ~12:30 and heading to Brands Hatch at about 14:00, signing on is from 15:30.
