Tracker for Insurance Compliance

RAC Trachstar is the one to have. #450 to supply and fit. #120 per year subscription and for an additional #96 per year it acts as a fixed camera warning device. It is a GPS system and run by the RAC. My insurance company were happy with it in my now sold GT3RS. It is also transferable to another car for a fee of around #150ish.

Cheers Jonathan

How does the camera warning device actually warn you, is there a separate screen of some sort?

It's an audiable series of beeps from a small speaker mounted way under he dash. The GPS obviousley knows where the car is and the speed in relation to the camera. It works very well.

I was about to fit a tracker to my car (purchased 08/2005), but all my broker (Footman James) wanted was an immobiliser upgrade (my car is LHD sourced from Germany) to bring security up to Thatcham One. I had a Cobra alarm system fitted and that sufficed. Indeed, I was told that a tracker would not reduce the premium further.

You may want to check with your broker as to exactly what is required?

I accept that it may bring you peace of mind though.
