If a tracker had been fitted when the car was made by Porsche you would have two tracker cards. If not then a new tracker from Porsche will be needed. Marsh insurance say sub £70 K car values do not need a tracker if it helps. Subscription is about £220 a year.

just a question . My insurance renewal on my Boxster spyder has come and are now asking for tracker to be fitted? As value rising . Has anyone else got trackers fitted ? Met a couple of people at porsche in the glen that had too when purchased .
any help much appreciated . My car was a November 2015
been quoted around 1200 plus subscription to fit

Suggest you check since any non Porsche tracker may invalidate your Warranty,

You could try another insurance company many dont require trackers. Look in Porsche Post, I would start with Classicline.

It would be a Porsche tracker to protect warranty , possibly over valuing car , going in piston head values??

thanks for replies

When I purchased the 987 Spyder it had VTS fitted but not activated it has 2 fobs concealed in the car .

When the 981 was delivered they invoiced me I think an additional £1140 for VTS which is fitted at the dealership I declined the offer( also wanted £580 for Swizzzz vax [:(]) .If you get an after market Tracker fitted in may affect warranty but no concrete evidence . As far as Insurance with Marsh and if I remember not required up to a certain value as posted by Robin M above this value tracker/VTS required

Interesting to read on that site of the self contained tracker box which just needs charging every 3-12 months or can be powered by the vehicle, surely that would have no effect upon the warranty at all, just like plugging in a TomTom or Coffee warmer!!! [;)]

I had VTS fitted to my 981 Spyder by OPC out of personal choice. However, paperwork got lost between dealer and Vodafone, so it was never activated and so it turns out that I had no theft cover for the first three months of ownership (My policy states if a tracker is fitted, it must be active). If you get it fitted make sure its active!!

Thanks for all the help

have gone with classic line insurance no tracker required with valuation guaranteed value, though low mileage which suits my needs and good price

have decided to go for the mobile tracker as well for my piece of mind 😀😀
