Just purchased my first 911, a C2S 2006my,[:D]
Looking for the best insurance quote and was wondering if anyone knows when Porsche started to fit their tracker system to vehicles ?[&:]

It will need confirming, but I think it was 2007. Mine came with one fitted, I believe that up until then they were tracker prepped. They could however be specced to be fitted by the buyer

Many thanks, Don't know why I didn't just ring the dealer in the first place and ask, its has VTS fitted apparently its about £200/year fee !.

Yup, £200 pa. The good thing is that it is the only Thatcham Cat 5 system. Cobra can actually immobilise your car if you confirm that it is indeed stolen.

i have to say, personally i find it gives great peace of mind for the reason derek states-maybe misplaced faith but when i have left the black disc at home by mistake cobra have been on the phone within a few minutes each time and would therefore immobilise it long before it gets to the channel hopefully

There's more to insurance than just the headline premium, I suppose. How much excess? Cover abroad? Track day cover etc, to name but a few. And you also need to ask yourself whether you want it back after it's been nicked! £450pa is a really good premium but add £200 to that for Cobra. I use Porsche Insurance Services who seem to be very competitive, my C2S premium is £490 with full no claims, £430 excess, two track days/year, free driving abroad and for a car value up to £75000 they do not require the tracker to be activated. My previous car had the tracker activated and concur that Cobra are certainly on the ball if you leave the card behind!
