Tracking down my Father's 356 Cab and Coupe.

Hi All,

I put a post on the DDK forum trying to track down my dad's 356's.

Chris Turner has given me some useful information to follow up on and the good news is it appears that one of the cars is still around.

The first car is a RHD 356 CAB Super 90 (I believe) in red.[/b] Car was in Ireland in the 80's before being brought back to the UK. My father used to race the car in Ireland, so that should narrow it down a bit and Chris mentioned that the current owner was aware of the car was raced and knew my father's name, so guess there must be paper work with the car from when he owned it.

The current owner was in Contact with Chris 2-3 years ago but Chris could not recall his name. He thought current owner might be based up north. I do not have the chassis number or UK reg number, only the Irish Reg number (100 OZU) it was on when my father owned it.

Can anyone help or know the car?

The second car is a LHD Coupe, B[/b] I think. It was a pastel blue when he had it but I remember the new owner send through photos in the mid to late 80's of the car restored and in white/ivory colour[/b]. I only know part of the Irish reg number (which was *** 356) but this car too could well be over in the UK now. How many LHD B white/Ivory coupes or on the 356 registrar that have been in the UK for over 20 years?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks
Derek

Derek , I ve replied to you tru Porsche Club Ireland, you emailed me .

The reg number 100 OZU cannot be ! this was a Dublin Reg but around year 1977 or so. If the letters preceed the numbers, say OZU 100 then its a 1969 Dublin Reg, again not a 356. Though, I wonder, if your Dad imported a 356 secondhand to Ireland in 1969 and the car was older would the customs have given him a 1969 reg ?

Dave

Thanks guys.

I have photos of the car with 100 OZO, which would mean that the car was imported into Ireland in 1977.

Before the current plate format came out in 1987, imports would get registered with an age related plate to the date it was imported (unless u knew someone in the reg office [;)])

Thanks for your mail, have just replied. Will let u know how I get on.

Cheers
Derek
