Hi,
I am looking to order a new Cayman - being told that any post delivery Vehicle Tracker System fitted to the vehicle will invalidate the warranty?
Can anyone confirm, please?
Thanks

I can't see why an OPC would take that approach other than the Porsche VTS system is fitted by the dealer in Caymans - perhaps they want you to just buy from them.. which OPC?

There are many hard wired systems out there that if discovered during any pre-warranty inspection could (depending on your relationship with your PC) invalidate your ability to extend your warranty.

However, try these guys: [link=http://www.trackersecurity.co.uk/index.html]http://www.trackersecurity.co.uk/index.html[/link]

The unit is wire free and for insurance purposes Thatcham accredited.

Many on here use this device and I do not know of anyone who has had warranty issues because of it.

Side bonus of this is should you sell your car you can remove it to your new car.

Solihull Porsche,

Mentioned to the sales guy, who quoted £1000 = 250 pa, I would fit a Tracker system, post delivery, as on my other non porsche vehicles, his reply was simple - fit anything other than a Porsche system and Porsche will invalidate the vehicle warranty.....

The prices are for the VTS system which I have on my current and some previous Porsches and it works well. My first Boxster did not have the VTS system fitted and I had a third-party Thatcham system fitted and no issue from my OPC. The issue from a realistic warranty standpoint would be whether the third-party alarm electrics interfered with the car's electronics.

It might be worthwhile reaching out to the Club's closest Region to see if members experience of that OPC regarding warranty compliance is consistent with what the salesman is telling you. I guess the choice is yours, either bow to salesman's pressure, challenge the point with the dealer principal or just quietly fit another system post collection.

I was told the same by Silverstone for my Boxster GTS and have fitted the VTS system which I have been quite happy with on previous cars. It is a bit expensive but so are most things Porsche although cheaper than Ferrari, Lambo etc !!
