hi all i am new here but need some help . i have a 996 911 2004 twin turbo good conti tyres all round . but i get this tram linning when brakeing and you are fighting with the steering wheel . is there any thing i can do to stop this thanks

Hi Steve,

this is a common topic on here, often said to be caused by the wide (ish) front tyres
I have Contis on my C4S & experienced the same probs even after 4 wheel alignment but not under braking, mainly in n/s lanes in lorry paths.....

I do find it is a car where you have to hold steering wheel with a firmer grip than an 'everday' car that has light power steering

Have you had an alignment & balancing check?
that would be my 1st option

very impressed with my Contis, they have done 12k+ miles with plenty left & yes some will say I don't drive it hard enough[:)]
I will definately opt for them again

Could be a simple alignment issue, otherwise it sounds like some wear in system somewhere. Favourites are lower wishbones (coffin arms), diagonal forked arms, track rod ends, and/or top mounts.

Like Richard said. I had the same issue. Had a geometry alignment and changed the coffin arms and diagonal thingys and have not been fighting with the car ever since. It wasn't cheap but best money I spent so far.
