Whats THE best oil to use in the gearbox.?? WITH a LSD fitted?? And wheres the best place to get it from.???
A lot of us use SWEPCO from Bert Gear at Berlyn Services - his number is in Porsche File under Register Technical Adviser.

It's a pretty straight forward job though getting the new oil in is tricky. I used one of thost syringe things but found it wouldn't suck up the new oil so I had to keep unscrewing it to pour the oil into the syringe then assembling it to squirt the new oil into the transaxel. Very messy but very effective.
Easiest method I found is to get a shortish length (6ft or so) of PVC tubing about 1/2" diameter and a largish funnel. Place the funnel on one end of the hose and feed the other end of the hose over the top of the rear wheel and into the filler hole on top of the gear box then simply hold the funnel at sufficient height above the gearbox while filling it with oil. No mess no fuss

Make sure you can undo the filler plug before you undo the drain plug and watch it all drain out only to find that the filler plug is seized []
Promax noted mine was siezed so filled it via the reverse light switch I believe [8D][8D]

I'd recommend Snake Oil []
Coincidentally I did mine on Wednesday - I used this:

Managed to get the oil in fairly easily - you can get the bottles higher than the filler hole by squeezing them up past the back box & heat shield, then just pump it in.
Worth getting the oil warm before you start - rather than taking it straight off a cold garage shelf.
Finally - don't torque the plugs up too tight - IIRC they are tapered & liable to seize. Haynes says 18 ft lbs
I'm not knocking it; there are enough people around who swear by it, but it's damn pricey and I can't believe that it is *that* much better than everything else.
(Health Warning - I have never tried it, and may well be talking out of my hat.)
Oli.

btw I have used swepco for some time and find that the shift is very good when warm but can be a bit stiff when cold. ISTR the swepco stuff is supposed to be very good at preventing synchro wear.
