Hey guys,
i felt a rather unusual and rare feeling of wanting to do some work so this afternoon i started taking the gearbox out and then this evening when it was dark i thought well im not far off getting it out so i might as well continue.
anyway everythings undone and its free...however i cant pull the gearbox far back enough to get it off the splines at the front in order to lower it down. Back of the box is hitting the spare wheel well
My dad seemed to think you have to undo the front of the torque tube? but i followed the instructions on clarks garage and it didnt mention to do this so i havent.
Theres a bolt on alloy cover at the back of the box can i remove this in order to slide it further back so it comes off the splines? as this would work i think if theres nothing under that cover?
Also if you remember my other post i said there was a nasty rattling sound, which went with the clutch depressed....looking under the car in the gearbox bellhousing theres a square alloy block which clamps the torque tube onto the splines? well this has come off and therefor rattling about when the engines running so thats that problem cured, however im sure theres something wrong inside the box still...
it wouldnt go into any gear before and the gearstick was solid. When i turned the road wheel the other side didnt move at all....now ive undone the gear linkage the other side turns now... so seems like a selector problem inside... will enlighten you all when i manage to get the bloody thing out.
