Transmission warning messages

Hi all

I'm wondering if anyone else had ever had experience of the various transmission warnings which are referred to on Page 154 of the Drivers Manual?

A couple of weeks ago I had the red Transmission Emergency Run warning while stopped at traffic lights fairly close to my home after a fairly leisurely 200 mile drive. The car wouldn't move for a few seconds, then the warning changed to Transmission Temperature Too High, closely followed by the white emergency Transmission Run warning. I was able to drive the car home and called Porsche Hatfield the following day who advised that I call Porsche Assistance and have it taken to them ASAP.

Once Porsche had had it for a day I got a call telling me that they could not find a fault, but subsequently said that they had found and tightened a loose valve and also had updated the software which should sort it out. I've had it out today and driven it less than 20 miles and once again the Transmission Temperature Too High warning has come up.

Sounds like I need to get on to Porsche again but any insights or advice would be helpful

Thanks

Ellis

Hi Ellis,

Reading around it looks most likely it is a sensor fault - assuming you don't have pool of transmission oil under the car! See this thread on PH

- the 4th post has some links to other forums where similar a similar problem has been reported. Seems this is not a type specific issue but occasionally crops up on all PDK variants.
Sounds like you want to get the PC to get to the bottom of it, even if it means a completely new gearbox, while you still have warranty.

It clearly isn't a leak otherwise they would have spotted that when they had it in a couple of weeks ago. Could be a sensor I suppose. We'll see!

Thanks

Finally got a decision from Porsche on this. Turns out that data had to be sent to Reading and thence to Stuttgart who then required even more data. After more than a week of waiting I have now been told that the car needs a new gearbox. Thank goodness the car is under warranty!!

Regards

Sound like diagnosis via the parts bin.... as you say, thank goodness for warranty [:)]

Yes, good news it's still under warranty! Did they elaborate as to the nature of the problem with the gearbox. Would be useful to know as this is the first one I've heard of that needs replacement. Also when it's done can you post of the "Warranty Thread", please?

No but I am also very curious and have already asked for more information and hope to hear something by tomorrow. I'll let you know, and yes of course will be happy to post on the Warranty thread.

Thanks
