Transporting a 911 on a Trailer and Coco Mats

Hi Guy's, A Newbie here.
I'm collecting my first Porsche 911 next week. A 73 911T. I'm collecting it on a purpose built Car Trailer to bring it back home home to Cornwall.
A friend mentioned that being rear engine it should be reversed on th the trailer so the weight is central and on the tow hitch. Any thoughts on this?

Also looking for a nice set of Coco Mats to adorn the cabin. Can these be purchased anywhere in the UK? I've done the usual Google search but it always seems to take me to their US page.

Buying Coco Mats from the US worked very well for me. Friendly service - make sure they know if it is RHD.
Your friend is right - reversing onto the trailer makes for a more stable tow.

coco mats are great . I have some of their sisal ones which I think have more of a stock appearance . Hopefully not breaking the rules ,.. but every so often some of the guys on DDK organise a group buy and bring them in. Not quite sure how much it saves as its a few years ago I got mine. Either way, its a straight forward job to buy direct but remember you will have duty to pay

This is correct. Engine must be at the hitch end. I found that with the BMW 5 Series estate that a few inches can make a difference to 'snaking'. Usually best to keep the speed down anyhow.

My 964's I reverse on. My 968's I drive on forward. Even with 50/50 weight distribution.

Thanks for the help so far. I've now joined the DDK Club and forum and found the bit about the Coco Mats buyer groups.

I'm a bit nervous about collecting my car next week......I can never get my head around those wretched 'Ratchet Straps'!....but will not start the tow until I am 100% happy

Tie down all 4 corners.
Loops around the tyres should be above the centre-line.
I tie the nose or tail down with a 5th strap at the hitch end (use a tow hook in the car).
Stop and re-tighten the ratchets if you are travelling a significant distance. Feel the centre of the transporter rims when you stop for excessive heat from wheel bearing issues (or low brake pad thickness if it is braked).
