Travelling in France

Hi everyone,

Just a quick post, this may well have been already mentioned elsewhere on the Porsche forum, but drivers to Europe, France in particular, should be aware that since July 2008, we now need to carry the following kit;

a minimum of one high-visibility jacket, to be stowed INSIDE the car
a warning triangle, also to be carried inside the car cabin
spare bulb kit
GB sticker or GB plates
headlight convertors (if appropriate/necessary, which on the 993 are not)

If you are stopped by Monsieur le Gendarme, as well as ALL your driving documents (V5, MOT, Insurance Certificate etc), you now need this really useful stuff (!!), a hefty fine (up to EUR 135.00 on the spot) is the alternative.

The AA and Halfords (for example) do have a check list, which is handy to look at.

As for speeding?!?! Forget it! 130 km/h in dry conditions is your lot on the Autoroute...

So, enjoy your 993's if you are going abroad but be aware of the new laws!

Cheers

One other Continental European point for those who wear glasses to drive. You must carry a spare pair! If not you will suffer a nasty shock to the wallet when stopped. I suppose it makes sense.
