Trip Computer

Hi all,

Does anyone have a trip computer in their car, I saw it in the manual and was wondering if it's easy to get one intalled?

Yes, I've got one that I installed myself. It's easy to do, but you do need to get hold of a tacho that has the OBC, and the control stalk. Also, because you can't change the units the OBC operates in (mph/kmh etc.), make sure you pick up the right one. The necessary wiring is already installed (except for the external temp sensor, I didn't bother with this), you'll see the connecter when you pull the tacho out.

theres a control stalk on ebay right now (has cruise control stalk too, but you could remove this if necessary)
check out the link in the thread re: swap mph for kmh speedo (or similar)

ps.. if you're not bothered about mpg reading in US gallons rather than UK (its an easy conversion to do in your head; UK = 1.2xUS I think) then the cheapest place to get one at the moment is eBay.com.. there is a porsche breaker in LA that has them for sale most of the time, I got mine for about 60 quid delivered I think and sold my kmh one for about 85 quid on ebay.co.uk!

Is it really as simple as that, just plug and play?

So how much are we talking for a proper UK unit and how much labour at my local specialist to fit it? Presumably someone like Porschapart would have the correct units, what parts do I need to ask for exactly?

Don't know why, but I've always liked toys like this[8|]
