Trip Meter and Wheel Bearings noise @ speed

Guys,

Not had my 944 long but seem to be getting reasonable fuel economy, but I cant work out how to reset the trip meter - someone tell me please . . .

Also I have a resonating @ about 70mph where the note changes as steer the car gently from side to side @ speed, does this sound like wheel bearings? If so what are more common to go front or rear and are they tapered on both front and rear for adjustment? (The haynes manual hasnt arrived from mr ebay yet!)

Cheers . . .

It's a rite of passage in 944 ownership...[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Button between the central air vents and the instruments, disguised as part of the moulding. It is said pressing it while moving causes nasty things to happen to the gears, but I have done so many times with no adverse effect. Note the ignition has to be on to make it work as it pushes a microswitch rather than mechanically reset the counter.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

sounds similar to wheel bearings, but......

throw away that haynes manual when it arrives (or use it as a doorstop), and check your emails.

On later cars rears are definately not, there is a wide one piece bearing, earlier cars I believe had 2 bearings with a spacer but I believe they also were not adjustable.
