In this months 911 & Porsche World their own Steve Bennett takes his trusty 944 lux to Zuffenhausen to visit the Porsche Museum and Classic Workshop.

I was thinking its a good excuse to stretch the legs on the S2 and was wondering if anyone else would be up for the 1300 mile round trip with a couple of days in Stuttgart this spring? Tis what these cars are for after all...

(BTW there's also a very good article on the 924 Carrera GTS in the mag too)

We ( some friends and me) are planning a tip there at the beginning of April. 1 night in Stuttgart then a couple of nights at the ring before home.

It is interesting that he drove there in his 944 which will not pass the relatively new Low Emission Zones (Umwelt Zone) for which most Germany cities now require the car to have an Umweltzone sticker on the windscreen. We had a problem in 2009 when our PEYT tour went there to visit the then newly opened museum. The factory is inside the zone. Steve Bennett does not even mention about the zones or the sticker which makes me think he did not bother. The windscreen sticker (Umwelt Plackett) can be bought from most garages or ADAC stations or from TUV testing stations and costs 15 Euros. They will only supply a car that has a Catalytic Converter ie, Porsches since 1991? Pre 1973 cars are exempt. I would be interested to hear if anyone has had a problem in these zones in Germany?
