Trip to Wales

I am taking my Boxster on a short tour of Wales in September and would welcome some suggestions of nice windy, scenic roads to go and have a play on.

My itinerary is: Cardiff, Felin Fach (brecon beacons), Aberaeron, Dolgellau, Llangollen, Ludlow.

Thanks

If you are prepared to venture a little further north you could try the A543 between Pentre-Foelas and Denbigh. The road is well surfaced, twisty, undulating and usually completely traffic free - although I'm told it's a favourite with the bikers. The terrain is open with few roadside trees or hedges, so you can see well ahead and take good lines at the corners without fear of on-coming traffic. It is an exhilarating drive without exceeding the speed limit. My daughter lives nearby so I'm a regular!

How about:

Aberystwyth - Devils Bridge - Elan Valley - Rhayader - Ludlow. The stretch from Devils Bridge to Rhayader is superb twisty small road but mainly across open moorland/fields so very few blind corners. I did this in the winter when there were very few cars on the road had a great time without exceeding any limits. Be warned the Welsh police are hot on speeding, I did a drive over to North Wales one day in April and went through three mobile speed traps so no signs or yellow boxes to warn you in advance.

the drive around lake Bala is truly breathtaking..[:D]..as are the number of speed cameras as mentioned before...with zero tolerance[]

I'd second the Rhayader - Elan - Devils Bridge suggestion ,
if you do that also take in the road from Elan village around in a big circle through Llanwrthwl for the scenery ,
but my favourite scenic route is the Beulah-Abergwesyn-Tregaron road , with a detour down to Llyn Brianne thrown in for good measure .
