Trolley Jack

[FONT=verdana, geneva"]I [FONT=verdana, geneva"][FONT=verdana, geneva"]need to get a trolley jack for my 993RS, as the Draper aluminium one I bought won't go low enough (it will drop low enough to fit under the car, but won't then lift).

Anyone got any suggestions?

[FONT=verdana, geneva"]I think that the Sealey, Michelin and Draper aluminium trolley jacks are all essentially the same unit. The issue I have is that I can drop the jack low enough to get it under the car, but that the lifting point ie the point at which the jack will start actually lifting is just a bit higher than the underside of my car.

This may because my car is quite low - it has the Manthey JW suspension fitted. I borrowed a Snap-On trolley jack from a mate, but can't really justify the cost of one of these for the amount of use it will get.

I've found this one:

anybody have any experience of this or can suggest one that will work?

thanks

Costco sell a heavy duty 3 tonne one for around £75, it is excellent, very sturdy but very heavy so not one for putting in the boot of the car. It is v low plus long reach

Are you saying when jack dropped fully it won't lift with weight on it? If so sounds faulty as I know mine does lift right from the bottom as I have used it where due to soft tyres/uneven floor or something I have had to get someone to lift car by front wheelacch to get jack under the dropping car onto jack and lifting on jack?

Machine Mart race jack -mine lifts from lowest position -sounds like a hydraulic prob......otherwise drive onto blocks of wood

sounds like it might be faulty. It will lower far enough to get under the car, but won't then actually lift the car, as it wont elevate from the lowest position. Any easy fix, or do I need to have it service/replaced?

Definitely faulty! They should all lift from the lowest point. Sometimes they are easy to bleed, there should be a little bleed screw at the top, that you can release. I've been through a few, some I've rescued by changing fluid or stripping down and replacing seals, some not.

A good place to purchase is Silverstone Factors, very competitive well known. Google should find it.
