Trolley Jack

Can anyone recommend a trolley jack at a reasonable price that is low enough to go under my C4S?

The jack I have just about went under my old Carrera 2 but the lower suspension and the plastic skirts on the C4S means that it is no good for this car.

Suggestions gratefully received.

If you don't have a Costco near you, just search for "alluminium racing jack" on ebay, that way you should get one for about £100, that will also fit under a GT3 or something equally low as well.

However, both the jack from Ready2Race and MachineMart have a max capacity of 1.25 Tonnes, and as a 996 coupe weighs around 1380 kg (cabs slightly more), it would appear that these jacks aren't suitable...

That's a shame as I really fancied getting one...!

1.25 Tonnes should be okay ? ? ?

Unless you want to lift the whole car, surely you'll be sharing the lifting weight with two wheels ?

If you want to go cheap Machine Mart have one for 33.00 including VAT which works fine with my lowered C2. Not the smartest but work well and can be seen at www.machinemart.co.uk and they appear to have branches nationwide.

You know, I knew something wasn't right, and I knew that if I posted my thoughts on the forum, someone would spot the obvious flaw in my thinking! Durrr....

Thanks pwafer, you're absolutely right, and I'll just go back to sleep...[:)]

or run the wheel onto a piece of 2x2 which then gives you the height to get the present jack under the sill [;)]
Its what i do to the 986S and my old 964
money saved............

Just done the same research myself and ended up buying the Costco one - superb piece of kit

Elliot,

I fear you've missed the point...sometimes you have to find a reason to buy a spangly new piece of kit.

You see, I tell my missus I *need* one of these jacks...just like when she tells me she *needs* another pair of shoes...

When my mates come round, "hey guys, take a look at this baby...!"

Not quite the same impact with a piece of 2x2!

I bought the costco aluminium jack and I quite agree a terrific bit of kit

Expensive but your car's worth it.
