I was interested in the article in the current911@Porsche World of the modified Boxster on page 42.Of the mods applied, there seemed to be a power difference in the article and that stated as being possible using just the True Flow kit in thePorscheshop catalogue[i.e.30bhp and estimated10-20 in the catalogue.Has anyone any experience of this unit-good or bad with either the supplied panel filter[which must be similar to the Porsche unit] or a cone filter.Does it give better breathing/sound,and what might the fitting cost be?

I've just read the article in 911 & Porsche world today (it was fitted to a 2.5L 986). Does indeed sound interesting. If there's anyone out there who knows anything about power claims and fitting ?

Most of the power claims for filter upgrades are utter bunkum! You should hear the power increases bandied about for Lotus Elise air filters... 10-20 bhp for a what, 120 bhp engine, that's a mighty big % increase for virtually no cost. You'd have thought the manufacturers would have done that when they designed the car!

Also, unless the cone filter is located next to the cold air intake, you'll probably get a performance decrease due to the ingestion of warm air nicely heated by the engine.

In summary: wouldn't bother. Probably better off running Optimax!
