Hi,
Has any body fitted tubeless tyres to the original mag wheels and what valves was used?,
The tec guy in the porsche club USA says he uses tr413 or tr414 valves and they have not given any problems,
I asked my local tyres shop but they would only fit tyres with tubes they said special valves were needed,
Cheers,
Tony. 911E sportsmatic RHD 1969 LWB.

You can fit tubless tyres to tubed rims, but no one in the trade these days will help you if they have any respect for liability law!

Thank you for your reply Nick,
I will have to fit them myself as tubeless are much safer than tubes,
Ed Mayo the early Porsche 911 expert on the Porsche club of America site fitted them with no problems,
Regards,
Tony.

Tony - I have used tubeless tyres on various early 911's fitted with deep six & 7R Fuchs wheels for the past 10 years without any problems.

The tubes you need are TR415:

tubeless are much safer than tubes,

I can't see why tubeless would be safer on a tubled rim.

I remember having a debate with Eion Sloane (Race Car secretary) about this topic . . . he felt strongly that tubes should be used. I know lots of people who don't.

I suppose you've got to be a little wary of insurance implications (i.e. if you ever had to claim).

Hi Lightweight-911,
When you fitted the valves did you use any sealant or just pushed them in the rim?,
Regards,
Tony.
