Turbo - 6 months on

Thought I would summarise how the 997 TT has been over the last 6 months.
Have done 3500 miles, average mpg 19.9, hardly uses any oil (except when it leaked see other thread) and continues to surprise the fast motorbikes by out accelerating them [:D]
Tyre pressures were lower than recommended since delivery but recently reset to recommended pressures - certainly makes the steering more accurate at the expense of making the car a little more jittery above 100.
Only gripes are the fact that it is too quiet, the headlamps steam up inside when it is damp and the front air dam is peppered with stone chips (glad its not painted).
The Bridgestones seem to be wearing well and they are fine in the wet.
Gearchange now much better and I find 3rd most of the time now (with short shifter).
Overall its very addictive the way it clocks up very high speeds so quickly, big grin everytime I drive it.

Shane, similar experience to yourself, although I'm getting towards 4K rather too soon, but I did do 900+miles on the collection.
I have used a litre of oil at 3K but I expected to with an engine bedding in.
Same tyres although one spanking new one to the rear after an encounter with a pothole.
On the last run to Oxford the car returned 22mpg (yeah, I drove like a wuss [;)]).
Glad to hear its still pleasing you, and thank you for the update.
Maybe some other 997 owners would like to do a running report ? let myself or Rob know if your interested...

Here goes mine:-
Picked my 997TT up in Stuttgart mid October and did around 1200 miles on the return trip. Didn't see the car then for a couple of weeks due to a family holiday but it was quite nice sitting in the sun contemplating the drive upon my return! [:)]

The oil was changed at 1,500, but when I began to press on a bit, the brakes were found to be a little spongy and lacking bite, so I had the fluid changed and the system bled by the OPC under warranty at around 2,200. This seemed to improve matters. Last week the boot catch remote was reprogrammed to stop it opening uninvited.

4000 miles now passed with just a small top up of oil. Fuel consumption seems to be around 22-23 mph - if I'm not driving fast enough that is![;)] I'm slightly alarmed by the blue oil smoke on start-up, although I'm consoled that every 911 I ever had has done the same (particularly the air-cooled models). Another oil change at 6,000 is contemplated.

I must be getting used to it as I'm beginning to think I need more grunt!!![:(] Perhaps a zorst or the X51 kit when it becomes available is the next step. Who knows?

Impressions: big step forward from the 996 and well worth the upgrade - a proper car again! [sm=kiss.gif]

Biggest regret - I didn't go for the PCB's but it did seem a bit OTT for a road car at the time.[]

Regards,
Clive
