Turbo actuator

Hi all
I recently acquired a Porsche 997.1 turbo and recently I have been hearing a tapping sound from the rear, normally get louder as the car heats up. I am quite knowledgeable about engines and used to rebuild them way back when! I am also certain it's either a pulley or water pump. The car is under extended warranty so took it to Porsche for an inspection. It's taken them 2 days and still they have not confirmed if it is the water pump, but yet they have come back reporting a few other issues, the one mainly I am questioning is they say the actuator rod on the passenger side is rusty and I am probably not getting boost from that turbo. I have not noticed any power loss. My question is surely if the rod is rusty but the actuator itself is working then it doesn't need replacing? It's expected due to location to have some rust after so many years. Also I believe the actuator can be tested via the computer to see if it's opening or not. Are they just trying to make as much as they can out of me??

Any advice would be appreciated.

Was the w902 for the rods?

There was a service campaign regarding the Turbo Actuator rods corroding a fair while back.
Mine corroded and it was quite obvious on the lack of power trying to pull away- suddenly went without prior issues.

PS- you'd get better responses asking this question in the 997 area of the forum.
