Turbo alternator

Have discovered today that I need a new alternator (ie after not being able to restart- luckily i had the twins in the car so got rapid service from the breakdown boys).

Does the turbo require a different alternator to the S2?

At same time I noticed that the rubber plug is missing from the camshaft cover - can this be bought seperately?

The Alternator should be the same for both models.
Give Adrian at Exeter a call for the plug (01392) 822841

Adrian has a new job [:(] He's still there, but he's the after-sales manager now and is transitioning off the parts to Chris and someone else (they have a vacancy right now).[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]He and Chris have assured me there will still be a discount for those mentioning the forum - nothing will change in terms of how they operate was how they put it. Chris is a nice guy, but he's a good number of years less experienced a parts guy than Adrian, so I think those of us who use Exeter will all see a difference unfortunately.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Tried my local OPC...£357 for an alternator + exchange[]

I think i'll risk one on ebay for a tenner.

However OPC do have the plastic bung for £1.24 so they'll get some business from me[;)]

Sorry to jump in but I`ve realised that my alternator cooling pipe mid section is missing? Just realised it had one[8|]

Is the original a rigid or flex pipe.

Is there any issue with using a flex hose (samco) etc?

I have flexible brake ducting on mine of the type sold by Demon Tweeks etc. As I recall the original stuff was flexi also.

Yes, it is a flexi hose as I replaced mine not so long ago. The original OEM one has come up to some stick in the past about it's robustness but don't forget they are getting on in years now and are subjected to intense heat and other gunk so I just decided to stick with the OEM part, but i'm sure there are lots different sources for stuff like this. It is a bit of a bugger to fit due to access and getting on the Jubilee clips to give them a good tighten on the altenator cooling shroud so it might be worth looking for an alternative fixing method than the usuall Jubilee clip that doesn't require two hands to tighten.
